Get ready for a World Cup summer!
Spruce up your garden for summer barbecues
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to spending sunny afternoons in my garden celebrating some World Cup victories over the coming weeks. I’m thinking friends, barbecue, maybe one or two beers…

It’s always so much nicer to spend time in your garden over the Summer when it’s looking its best. With that in mind, here’s a few quick and easy things you can do to give your patio, path or brickwork a quick makeover before lighting up the barbecue:
1) Clean the brickwork. Whether that’s just giving it a good sweep, pulling out or treating weeds or jet-washing the surface, a quick clean makes the world of difference.
2) Returf (or even just treat your grass) to give your lawn a facelift. After a long, cold winter lawns can be looking a bit sorry for themselves. Consider returfing – it will look like a brand new garden!
3) Get a good cleaning agent for paths, patios and block paving. Something like Jeyes Fluid (you can get this from B&Q), is a great multi-purpose cleaning agent for lots of outdoor surfaces.
4) Take care of the little details: sweep your decking or patio, take your washing line down, brush off your garden furniture and clear away the kids’ (or dog’s!) toys. This takes a couple of minutes but makes the space look bigger and more welcoming.
All you have to do now is light up the barbecue and put the beers in the fridge! And get your England shirt on, of course…
